The Jacob Lach-Cook Family

Meet The Lach-Cook Family, our December 2012 Shining Stars Calendar featured story.

Michael, Peggy, and Jacob

Our son Jacob I can say is our miracle child. Not once, but twice.

The first one was the day we adopted him at the age of 21 months. That was the happiest day when he became ours.

Then, 10 months later after going to the doctor because he had a lump on his neck, which they decided to remove after medication did not help.

He was then diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma. He was so brave while he went through his surgery, his chemotherapy, and all of the medicine we had to give him.

The Erica Weiss Family

Meet The Weiss Family, our November 2012 Shining Stars Calendar featured story.

Judy, Tom, and Erica

In May of 2007 Erica was admitted to Children’s Hospital with suspected pneumonia. Within 24 hours of her admission she went into cardiac arrest. Erica had to undergo a very risky procedure. The doctors did not think she was going to make it. We were told to say our good-byes. Erica was later diagnosed with dilated cardio-myopathy and a very rare disease, Takayasu Arterites.

While Erica was a patient in the ICU, her doctors encouraged us to apply to Make-A-Wish. We were very reluctant but knew Erica’s wish was out of our reach.

We applied and when we received the bittersweet news that Erica would receive her wish, to meet Corbin Bleu of High School Musical, our lives were transformed.
